Senior Electrical-Specification Engineer

Reporting directly to Director-Electric Power Solutions, this position is responsible for the technical liaison between Customers, Consulting Engineers, Key influencers, Architects and various Departments within the in-house Power Systems organization, such as Sales Management, Sales Representatives, Project Engineering, Engineering Services, Product Support and Emissions Solutions

Key Functions:

Influence Customers, Key influencers, Consulting Engineers and Architects on Equipment switch-gear, Controls and Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and other products provided by the Power Systems Group through specification preparedness, competitive awareness and technical relationship
Involvement/support, as required, in the entire sales process; initial to final design, submittal process, permitting, testing, commissioning and training to final customer acceptance
Organize consultant days to promote client's products and solutions
Regular joint-sales calls with team sales representatives to give presentations and lunch & learns
Develop and maintain effective internal partner relationships and relationships with major customers to achieve desired financial and market share objectives
Maintain comprehensive electronic and paper files on current and future projects and project history.  Maintain customer report calling and contact list.  Responsible for reporting and compliance to applicable engineering coverage marketing programs.  Generate other associated reports / documentation as required
Support the Sales and Product Support team to meet annual sales objectives
Build competencies; be responsible and proactive for personal development and growth.  Maintain a high degree of product and industry knowledge through factory programs, product updates, technical information, Industry Associations/Agencies, codes, applicable Federal, State and Local laws/codes, etc

Knowledge:

Must have strong human relations skills and the ability to work with people from all backgrounds and cultures, internally and externally, with appropriate influence and ability to resolve business issues
Excellent verbal and written communications skills along with working knowledge of PC based computer software programs
High energy level, excellent organizational, time management and negotiating skills
Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal supervision. 
Working knowledge of electrical and mechanical equipment and power generation systems ideally along with in-depth knowledge of the client's product line and competitive awareness
Ability to provide technical coverage directly to key consulting engineers and end users with the goal of providing electrical distribution/paralleling system design assistance
Value engineering expertise would be an asset

Travel (around 50% of the time) throughout and beyond the territory to accomplish position responsibilities including but not limited to factory, packager/assembler, various product manufacturer's, other dealers, meetings, technical events, etc
Adhere to all applicable safety policies.  Comply with all company policies, procedures, standards, and values

Education & Experience:

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering; 5 – 8 years of progressive and related experience

Professional designation ( P.Eng.) in either Alberta or BC is a desirable asset
5+ years of direct customer contact sales experience is a key asset
