Business Development Manager/Assistant Manager

Our client is a prestigious retail & design leader...uniquely positioned in the marketplace and is looking for the next generation leader to enhance their market position while maintaining their excellent high standards in:

Customer Relationships

Work with the sales team to nurture existing relationships. Schedule client calls, discuss our current performance and look for opportunities for improvement in order to gain additional customer loyalty.

Identify past customer relationships that require repair. Arrange client meetings to discuss where we fell short, explain our new corporate culture and overall vision and discuss new opportunities.

Identify new client opportunities. Schedule new client calls, identify new opportunities and introduce client to appropriate sales associate.

Design Knowledge

Must be up to date on the latest design trends.

Should have in depth knowledge of standard and specialty decorative products.

Should be comfortable in designing rough bathroom layouts.

Sales Experience

Must be proficient in the sales process – e.g. identifying the needs of the client, outlining the features and benefits of the products and services, dealing with any objections (price, etc.), and negotiating and closing the sale.

Comfortable and proficient at Prospecting and also Cold Calling on New Clients.

Business Acumen

Solid understanding of business financials such as GM and OI.

Ability to evaluate the business and design and execute on a strategic growth plan.

Screen larger project business opportunities, evaluate risk, determine sales margin and negotiate on sale terms.

Build solid relationships with  vendors and communicate in a positive and professional manner at all times.

Negotiate extended terms for project business, bulk stock buys and displays with vendors.

Management Experience

Previous experience in leading a sales team.

Proven track record of both top and bottom line sales growth.

Experience with margin growth initiatives.

Territory/Account Management

Develop a strategy and an approach to maintain existing accounts and also to identify and grow business with new customers in a targeted and organized fashion.

Network with clients, suppliers, and other building industry representatives to identify new client prospects and jobs to be targeted.

Marketing

Take full ownership of event and tradeshow initiatives – e.g. IDS Vancouver, Luxury Taste of Life Show, 

Brand ambassador at industry related events.

Identify trendsetter ideas by researching industry and related events, publications, and announcements.

Ownership of showroom displays which includes interviewing vendors, negotiating terms, evaluating product with the sales team and product placement.

 

Required Skills

Honed sales skills and experience as an outside sales representative with luxury goods

Previous management experience

Exceptional planning and implementation capabilities

Adept at gathering and researching market trends

Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point

Highly organized and very accurate with details and data

Post Secondary Education
