Health and Safety Coordinator

We are looking for full-time Health and Safety Coordinator to take our health and safety program to the next level. The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing a formal health and safety program, monitoring the health and safety of the workplace, and working towards continuous improvement of our health and safety policies and practices.

Primary Responsibilities:

Develop and implement a formal occupational health and safety program
Promote and encourage safe work practices
Conduct regular research on health and safety regulations and industry best practices, and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance
Design and deliver health and safety education and training programs for employees and new worker orientation
Prepare and maintain professional documentation on health and safety policies, records, statistics, procedures, plans, training programs, checklists, etc.
Investigate workplace accidents and occurrences of workplace-related illness, identify causes, produce detailed reports, and develop corrective/future prevention action plans
Monitor the workplace daily, checking that safe work practices are being followed and all staff are equipped with and using the proper PPE
Collaborate with Maintenance department on preventive maintenance schedules and lock-out procedures
Perform regular audits of the workplace to evaluate current health and safety program effectiveness and implement changes where appropriate
Lead Health & Safety Committee meetings
Assist with HACCP program implementation and maintenance
Perform other related duties and tasks as required


Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or similar education
CRSP designation preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to interpret BC health and safety legislation and regulations
Ability to plan, organize, develop, and implement objectives and policies
Proficient with Microsoft Office and Excel
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, with a strong focus on motivation of others
Ability to identify issues and implement creative and strategic solutions to overcome problems
Superb attention to detail
Ability to remain calm and poised in urgent situations
