The Opportunity

We are sourcing for a Senior Business Development Professional for an automation firm that provides full specialized technical services, from design through to installation. With over thirty-five years of history, and offices across Canada, they continue to challenge industry standards of excellence, innovation and ethical business practices. In order to be considered for the role, you must know the difference between a "hunter" and a "farmer"...we need a hunter!

Responsibilities: 

Develop and implement strategic account plans consistent with the Company’s marketing strategies and value proposition.

Be a strategic team leader.
Build multi-level relationships and contacts.
Maintain a current database of all accounts and the respective requirements in the assigned territory/industry.
Develop knowledge of the competitive activity in designated accounts.
Build a portfolio of growth opportunities and develop the necessary contacts and relationships.
Maintain appropriate call frequencies and call documentation.
Manage volume and revenue against commitments utilizing the account planning process.
Monitor customer needs and satisfaction and ensure problem resolution.
Develop customer proposals and identify new growth and product/service opportunities.
Monitor and report on market, product, customer trends and competitive activity.
Initiate technical projects jointly with Engineering, Project Managers, and Systems Integrators, that provide value and differentiation.
 

Requirements:

Degree from a credited university or technical college in one or more of the following fields: electrical engineering/technology, business, finance and marketing.
Experience in the waste water, chemical, forestry, food and beverage and/or oil & gas industries with a minimum of 3-5 years in a technical sales role. Bringing in new business...
Experienced candidates with 5+ years’ experience in the Automation Industry combined with advanced commercial or business experience will also be considered.
Strong Technical Aptitude with a firm understanding of the Automation Industry (PLC, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, etc.)
Robust knowledge of the relevant industries and markets.
Able to travel to support the assigned sales territory (estimated 25% travel).
