Project Manager – Senior Level Architect

Our client is a prestigious architectural firm is an award winning firm that has been based in Vancouver for over 40 years.

As their workload increases, they need to add to their team at many levels to engage these new projects. Their firm has a variety of building types, although experience in residential and mixed use projects would be helpful. The person they need at this time to fill this current role will be able to:

Work with Partner – in Charge from project inception producing alternative preliminary design concepts and then supervise the evolution of the schematics as the design details evolve. Project teams vary in size depending on the size, complexity and schedule of each project.
This will include supervising (or hands-on creation of) the graphics required to communicate design concepts to The Client and the Municipalities. Our client still believes physical model building is an unbeatable communication method.
Developing the appropriate design packages for Rezoning Application, Development Permit Applications, and eventually Building Permits.
Help select appropriate consultants for the design team and have an understanding of the appropriate level of information and detail required to represent the project at each stage of development.
Organize, manage and coordinate the tendering and construction of complex projects using a small support team. This will include reviewing drawings for Completeness and Quality Control as they are prepared for “Issued for Construction”.
Interpret the BC Building Code and review on-site construction so that the project meets BCBC requirements and achieves design objectives. This may involve supervising and mentoring junior staff who may be responsible for the day-to-day activities of Construction Administration.
Coordinate an experienced consultant team to provide efficient and effective flow of information and design clarifications as the construction process unfolds.
Use fluent English written and verbal communications skills for dialogue with clients, consultants, contractors and other team members.
Be proficient with AutoCAD, SketchUp and other rendering tools.
Their office is committed to a PC platform and we use Microsoft Office software. Proficiency in these programs is mandatory.

Applicants must be registered with the AIBC or eligible for registration in the province of British Columbia.

If you are the person described here, and enjoy working in a positive upbeat environment where you can share information and help the mentoring of other less experienced colleagues, send your resume and supporting information, to Pierre Blais pierre@thinktalent.com.

We will respond to the applicants that meet the criteria.*** Please note, professionals from abroad NEED NOT APPLY, we are not in a position to sponsor.
